My Number

All registered residents in Japan are assigned a number called “My Number (personal number)”.
You will need My Number when opening a bank account, submitting documents for social insurance and tax to the municipal office.
In the municipal office, you can receive the My Number Card which contains your My Number.
You do not have to pay when you apply for My Number Card for the first time.(Free of charge)
My number card can be used at convenience stores to make a copy of the “resident record” or as a health insurance card.
